Additional info/contents	Johann Georg Albinus wrote a number of Lutheran hymns, which have been set to music by various composers. Johann Sebastian Bach reworked some of these hymns and incorporated them into his cantatas, most notably the chorale "Alle Menschen müssen sterben" (All men must die) in Cantata BWV 162. The Albinus Variations begin with a solemn cadenza. This is followed by five contrasting variations on this chorale. Both versions of the chorale, one in a major key and one in a minor key, served as the basis for this work.
