Composer Defoort, Rita; Waignein, Andre
Difficulty level 5
Evaluation level of countries D4 (German upper level)
Duration 12:04
Additional info/contents In this piece of music Rita Deefort and André Waignain highlight all characteristics of the wind band: character, feeling quality and virtuosity. The contiguous different pieces, based on perfect fourth intervals, are well connected, giving the piece a harmonious character. The orchestration is also flat-out sensationel. After the introduction of the theme in the beginning of the piece, the oboe introduces a slow part. Then trumpets take over this movement, followed by the entire band. This part is followed by a fantastic percussion section solo, which introduces the final part of the composition. Many different composing techniques are appplied in this piece of music: bitonality, polyrhythm, deliberate dissonants, glissandi, trills etc... All these aspects make this original work a true masterpiece.
