Arranger
Tarr, Edward
Additional info/contents
The trios (composed in 1837) and the quartets (1844) by Kresser are original compositions from the early days of the cornet. The birth of this instrument with the valve mechanism, which had been invented shortly before, can be dated around 1825 in Paris. The part books of the quartets are notated for three cornets in A and one cornet (or alto trombone) in E. In the score edited by Edward E. Tarr, all four parts are printed in the same transposition (range: f to a', keys from 3b to 1#).
