Additional info/contents	In my piece ARCUS I dedicate myself to the natural phenomenon of the rainbow. During a short daydream, a little boy - similarities to the author cannot be ruled out - goes on an adventurous journey “over the colorful hill” with his self-made sky sleigh. I tried to write music that - like the color spectrum of the rainbow itself - is very rich in different (musical) colors. The speed at which the musical story is told is just as fast as a rainbow sometimes comes and goes. Hold on tight! Thiemo Kraas composed 'Arcus' for the 100th anniversary of the Avenwedde-Gütersloh music association and its conductor Elmar Westerbarkey. The composition "Arcus" (lat: arch) is dedicated to the natural phenomenon of the rainbow. In a short daydream, a little boy sets off on an adventurous journey "over the" rainbow with his self-made sky sledge. The music is as rich in different colours as the rainbow itself. For example, romantic music is mixed with influences from jazz or funk. The musical scenarios merge as fluidly as the colour spectrum of the rainbow. The composition is a fantasy with a partly high narrative speed. Thus we fall into a short, exciting daydream that makes this unique natural phenomenon tangible, palpable and experienceable...
