Additional info/contents "Laudamus Te" was written for a band of 100+ players. The piece was written for and dedicated to the Mount St. Charles Academy Symphonic Band (Woonsocket, Rhode Island). Marc Blanchette is the director of this institution.
The composition was supported by a grant from the Christa McAuliffe Fellowship Program, a federally funded programme that provides scholarships for outstanding teachers. The fellowship enables and encourages teachers to pursue professional development, develop innovative programmes, consult or assist local educational institutions, and engage in other educational activities that expand their knowledge and skills. This in turn improves the quality of education for primary and/or secondary students. The scholarships honour the late teacher Sharon Christa McAuliffe, who served as an astronaut on the Space Shuttle Challenger in January 1986.
