Additional info/contents Im Weissen Rössl (The White Horse Inn) is a famous light opera in three acts by Ralph Benatzky. Some of the musical interludes were written by Robert Stolz and Robert Gilbert. The play premiered in the Great Theatre of Berlin in 1930. The setting is the hotel “Weisses Rössl” (White Horse) on Wolfgangsee (Lake Wolfgang) in the Austrian Salzkammergut region. The plot about waiter Leopold falling in love with his boss Josepha and enduring several trials and tribulations before finding love’s happiness, was also given to cinema a number of times. Today, the catchy melodies are true evergreens. Stefan Schwalgin’s new arrangement contains the most popular songs from the light opera, purposely presented in a modern tonal language. He also meets the standard of current instrumentation that is more diverse than ten or twenty years ago. Without taking the wonderfully nostalgic charm from the songs, Stefan Schwalgin enhanced his treatment with modern stylistic elements, such as a short appearance of a Dixieland combo, jazzy sounds and a rumba beat. This imaginatively designed medley is a colorful and sweeping enrichment of band repertoire and makes the most beautiful melodies from the “Weisses Rössl” shine like new.

1. Im Weissen Rössl (Introduktion) (Ralph Benatzky)
2. Die ganze Welt ist himmelblau (Robert Stolz)
3. Im Salzkammergut (Ralph Benatzky)
4. Es muss was Wunderbares sein, von dir geliebt zu werden (Ralph Benatzky)
5. Was kann der Sigismund dafür (Robert Gilbert)
6. Im Weissen Rössl am Wolfgangsee (Ralph Benatzky)
