Arthur Prevost (1888-1967) was one of the legendary conductors of the Belgian Guides Symphony Orchestra. He was appointed conductor in 1918 and immediately reorganised the orchestra completely. He was to bring the orchestra up to the level of the best professional wind orchestras in the world.
In addition to his decisive role in the development of the Royal Symphony Orchestra of the Belgian Guides, Prevost was to be remembered for three particular achievements. Prevost composed a number of magnificent marches, including several official military marches. He also urged all the major contemporary Belgian composers to write for wind orchestras and specifically for the Belgian military bands. Prevost wrote a large number of exciting custom transcriptions for the guides.
To mark the 125th anniversary of his birth, the orchestra pays tribute to Arthur Prevost with this selection from his unique legacy.
