Composer Bach, P.D.Q.
Additional info/contents This bassoon quartet is a showcase for the complete lack of understanding that PDQ had for this particular instrument. Jamming cardboard tubes into bell joints may be one way of facilitating a low A, but these kinds of shortcuts are only for the seasoned 'performers.' Still, this may be just the sort of work to liven up any bassoon quartet's program, given that they are, after all, a bassoon quartet. For high school or college-level players, although no political science courses are required.
