Although the first movement begins lyrically, in general the outer movements have a tendency to be rather angular and quirky. This is contrasted with the second movement, which is more lyrical and calm (although the flutist begins the second movement by playing into the piano). Anthony Plog Les 3 Miniatures pour flute et piano font partie d'une série de pièces écrites pour tous les instruments à vent. Bien que le premier mouvement débute dans un climat lyrique, la suite exploite plutôt des rythmes saccadés d'un humour surprenant.
